Founded in 1993, Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth (LIGALY) takes a multifaceted approach to addressing the needs of youth, young adults, and families facing issues of sexuality, sexual identity, gender identity, and HIV/AIDS. Despite perceptions of Long Island’s being closed-minded and conservative, LIGALY has overcome the obstacles and become a health and supportive place for GLBT youth. By specializing in education, advocacy, and social support, LIGALY reaches the lives of more than 1,000 youth and their families each month.
